Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation

[11/04/2008 - __[[GIPA PROJECT]]__]

Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation

Date:  August 11-29, 2008

Course fee:  US$2,500

Venue:  IIRR, Philippines

This course is intended for development leaders and executives who design and manage community-based development programs or projects, and extension officers and field personnel that implement them. The course provides a facilitative learning environment conducive to a cooperative yet challenging self-assessment and shared discourse about conventional and participatory monitoring and evaluation (PM&E) concepts and practices.  Simulated exercises and guided field practicum demonstrate practical methods and tools in designing and facilitating PM&E processes.

The course also explores critical elements that support the establishment and maintenance of PM&E within development organizations.   Participants are meaningfully engaged to reflect on the practical applications of PM&E within the context of their own organization, program, or project; and to identify ways to improve their current practices in monitoring and evaluation.

[14/03/2008 - __[[GIPA PROJECT]]__]
International Center for Development Communication, Kasetasrt University, Bangkok, Thailand

Announces a Study Tour on HIV/AIDS Policy 4-11 June 2008

There are very few developing countries in the world where public policy has been effective in preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS on a national scale, but Thailand is an exception.  A massive program to control HIV has achieved substantial reductions in new HIV ctions”. (AVERT, www.avert.org/aidsthai.htm).  “It is now thought to have one of the most comprehensive national AIDS programs in theworld”. (AIDS Analysis Asia, Vol. 3 (1), January 1997) The successful reduction of HIV/AIDS transmission rate experienced by Thailand did not happen in a decade. It was a gradual unfolding of concerted efforts among all sectors complemented by non-government organizations, religious organizations, private enterprises and the media.  This 7 days study tour provides opportunities for the
participants to learn from pertinent cases the obstacles and successes experienced in these concerted efforts.
